Day 11: What If...?

SOMETHING YOU ALWAYS THINK "WHAT IF..." ABOUT

What if Adam never ate the fruit?
Well, let's think about it for a second, Genesis 3 says that the serpent talked to the woman and convinced her to eat the fruit, and obviously she had sinned as soon as she did, but Adam had to be convinced by Eve. But then, this is what confuses me right, In verse 6 it says this "Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too". If Adam was with her, does that mean he heard the serpent? or was he there after the serpent left? but then again, it never says that the serpent left. Anyway, what if Eve had given the fruit of good and evil to Adam and he had chosen never to eat it. Like what if he was like "Nah Eve, this is wrong, God told us to not eat it". Wouldn't this change things? If Adam hadn't eaten it and Eve had, then one of them sinned and the other didn't. What would this mean for the world? Would the world live in sin or would it not?

I've asked this question twice in my youth group, but I don't think I can remember the answers. One of the things I do remember is there obviously isn't a definitive answer, it's all, what if, but I do remember one of the things said.
In verse 7 of the NIV version, it says "Then the eyes of both of them were opened" which gives the impression that the eyes were only opened once both of them ate the fruit, in other versions, it says 'at that moment', 'suddenly', 'and the eyes...' etc. So, the kind of answer is that, maybe, if Adam hadn't eaten the fruit, then their eyes wouldn't have been opened? I don't really know, to be honest, it's all one big if!

The world was designed for us to live in harmony, so please be nice. Constructive criticism is always welcome though ;)

Thanks for coming by.
